It is so much easier to remove them in spring and it's a great protection for the plants. I am kind of a lazy gardener, haha!

About the asparagus, I really like how they changed color. It's a great contrast with the grass. If the soil in my yard wasn't so clayey, I would have planted some next year. I'll have to keep enjoying yours through photos! :)Genevièvehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02906460820617853088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12104740.post-47886145072464789512015-12-18T07:12:45.183-06:002015-12-18T07:12:45.183-06:00Yep, that's the asparagus. I always leave it there over the winter, because it's a lot of work to clean the old stalks off, and they come out much easier once they've rotted down and dried. Also, they sometimes cause the snow to pile in drifts onto the garden, so it's good for moisture.Grandma Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09260178906088230163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12104740.post-38581107558273182662015-12-18T05:12:19.868-06:002015-12-18T05:12:19.868-06:00You're right about that El Nino, it is really ...You're right about that El Nino, it is really bringing weird weather this winter!

Also, I was wondering if the tall yellow grass we can see in the second picture is your asparagus plants?Genevièvehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02906460820617853088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12104740.post-32193490574962935632015-12-15T07:10:06.908-06:002015-12-15T07:10:06.908-06:00We almost always get winds with our storms. About every five years or so.kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13468763091074811797noreply@blogger.com
