Forgotten cropping

Oops... I missed one photo when I showed you the cropped pics last week. Right down at the front (bottom in this photo) of the barrel are some purple alyssum blooms. I'd bought them shortly after I planted the gazanias, thinking I needed something to fill in around the edges. I guess they were unnecessary, as they're mostly covered up. But there are a few that peek out.

Here is a closeup of some of them, and one of the suggested croppings from Picasa.

It's probably a good thing I forgot them before. I'm running out of photos to blog again. I guess I'd better get outside with the camera soon! I do have a batch of kittens you haven't seen much of yet, but they sure don't hold still very well for picture-taking! I've tried, and I've ended up with a lot of blurry pics. :)

Begonias and alyssum

These are the dragon-wing begonias and alyssum that are in the barrel in front of our garage. They're a bit rain-enhanced, too, in these photos. Just pretty pics I couldn't resist taking. (And they look better enlarged a bit by clicking on them.)

Notice the difference in the alyssum in these next 2 photos. They are the same variety, but most of the ones in the 2nd photo have a purple tinge in their centers! Interesting.

Begonias

Here's a full shot of the barrel of flowers that Courtney was reaching for in the previous post. In the center are dragon wing begonias. Around the outside are alyssum plants that come up on their own every year, and they always make a nice fill-in around the edges.

A closer look:

Most begonias don't like full sun, which is where my barrel is located, but this particular type happens to love it! Here's a photo from a few years ago, and I hope the ones I planted this year will look like this before long, too.

On the other side of the house, in the shade, I have these:

Nope, that's not a yellow rose. It's a non-stop begonia.

Here's a red one:

I love the non-stops. As the name implies, they just bloom and bloom!
