We had a blizzard

We got our predicted blizzard yesterday, but it wasn't quite as bad as we thought it was going to be. We got a little new snow, and winds gusted to over 40 mph at times, which had the new snow and any loose old snow up in the air. Thankfully, we'd had just a bit of rain one night, which glued most of the old snow down.

The temperature dropped pretty fast, and it left us with some frost designs on our windows again. I did a little more practicing with the new Canon camera. These photos are pretty, but not as crisply focused as I'd like them to be. I don't know if the problem is me or the camera. Probably me. I'll keep practicing. :)

I also tried taking movies for the first time with this camera, to show you the blizzard. They turned out okay, but they were in HD (high definition), and the files were HUGE! They'd have taken forever for you to load to play, and much longer for me to upload to Blogger. So I deleted them. I'm not sure if there's a setting to lessen their quality and make future files smaller... I don't think so, but I'll look into it. The Panasonic, my old-new camera, isn't too great with videos, plus it leaves too much background noise on the video clips (kinda like someone's cranking the film reel by hand or something!). So I'm hanging onto my old-old camera, the Kodak, which does blog-quality videos very nicely.

Even though it was blizzarding yesterday, our faithful mail carrier still made it through. Look what she brought me!

Now I have no excuse for not getting those bag projects made! At least not a zipper excuse. ;) Zipit is the best, and I love how she always includes a free zipper pull (designed by her husband) with every order!

(How many zippers did YOU order, Annie Dee? ;) )

Decisions

I'm a very poor decision-maker. I'm anxious to sew something, but I guess I have too many choices. So much fabric!

And what you're seeing here is only what I have upstairs, that I've brought up with different things in mind, to see how they look in actual daylight. There's a ton of fabrics still in my sewing room.

And zippers!

So many possible combinations!

I have 3 bag patterns downloaded, printed, cut out and put together. But every time I decide on a fabric I want to use for one, and finally settle on a lining fabric I want to put with it, then I don't have a zipper in the right color/length to go with them. Yeah, out of all those zippers. That's where I am right now. I may have to make another trip to Zipit.com. Or choose a different project, like the one in the last photo above. Those will work... although I'm not sure what to use for the lining in that one. Aack! Somebody decide for me, will you?!

Zipper fun

I bought some more zippers from the Etsy shop, Zipit.  They have a huge selection, and the prices are wholesale!  It's just hard to decide what to get without specific projects in mind, so I went with another "assorted selection".  These are longer than the last ones I got, so I should be ready for anything.  Or I can just look at them, since they're soooo pretty. ;)

Those two orange ones are for something I'm working on right now, however... which is why I placed the order to begin with.  Then to get my money's worth from the shipping cost, I added the other selection, which was at a sale price.  Plus I had a discount code for 15% off the entire order, so I think I did pretty fine!

Along with your order, they always include one of their zipper pulls, which the husband designs.  They have a big variety of those in the shop, too.  Pretty and fun, don'tcha think?

Oh, and I was experimenting in my photo tent again, too, before I took it down to make room to actually SEW in my sewing room.  (Wow, this current project is the first thing I've sewn since before Christmas!!) Above I used a white background, and below is on black.

Which do you think looks best?  My camera definitely preferred the white.  It told me there wasn't enough light with the black one.  But I made it take the picture, anyway. ;)

The Zipit seller also decorates her packages with cute tape.  Fun!

As usual, you can click on any photo to enlarge it for a lovelier view!
