Baby, it's COLD outside!

This was my sewing room window view around noonish yesterday. It had gotten to -10°F the night before, and it barely got above zero during the day. The window never did clear off, even with the sun shining on it.

Now, if I had my new camera figured out, these pictures would've been much nicer, I'm sure. But I thought the frost was interesting, anyway. This is to the left of the flowers:

And at the bottom right:

The gerberas themselves made for a nice silhouette:

There had been FIVE blooms, but I'd had to cut one off that morning, because it was finished. There are no yellow ones right now, but a number of buds are coming.

I did at least figure out how to take a basic picture with the new camera... and get it into the computer. Here is one of my first photo attempts:

Not bad for just experimenting, huh? She, of course, had to be 'right there' as I was figuring things out. At least she's pretty photogenic, even if she doesn't sit still very well. :)

Very nice pictures.
I really like the ones that I'm going to name "The Frost Forest".

Yeah, she is pretty and photogenic.
Trixie ventured out for a very short cold session this morning. I think we share the same opinion of the cold.

Thank you!

Josie sneaked out into the garage yesterday, but she was ready to turn right around and come back in, too. ;)

Ten below!?!?!
You got wonderful photos of the frosty window and I like how the flower was seen too.

Did you try getting really up close to the frost? There is probably a macro setting on your camera's setting options. Usually it has a flower icon. Try a shot then crop in... I am a sucker for window frost close ups!

Thanks, Jill! I got as close as I could, but the sun was shining right in there, so I didn't think it would work. I really wanted to capture all the sparkles! It's heading down to ten below again tonight, so maybe I can give it another try tomorrow and see if the camera objects. Yes, I do have a macro setting (on my old camera) and I use it often. I'm a little slow on figuring out the new camera, and I haven't started the online classes yet. :-/

Jill, if you click on the 'frost' tag on my left sidebar, you can see all of my frosty closeups! :)

I love your winter frost art pictures, I don't know how you do it but all the others I see are never as clear. Thanks for using your photography gift and sharing with us. Mark

Thank YOU, Mark... and you're welcome! Hopefully when I get my new camera figured out, the photos will be even better. ;)
