Do you see what I saw?

Can you see it? Probably not. I don't know what made me notice it. It's right at the top of that bare branch to Annabelle's left.

Let's look closer.....

When I first saw it, I thought it was a young turkey up there ready to roost for the night. I'd seen them in those trees before, but not quite so high. I really couldn't see it very well from the ground, but after snapping some pics with the telephoto lens and then viewing them on the computer, I discovered it was a big fat mourning dove!

Huh.

went for our usual 5a walk with the dogs the other morning in the dark and thought there was a piece of palm tree at the end of the drive way. when we came around from the street side i realized it was a mourning dove sitting on the ground! i was worried it was sick or hurt so I got the dogs away quick. he was gone when we came out again later. not sure my eagle eyed guard dogs even saw it... ;)

Mourning doves are kinda weird like that. They'll sit somewhere till you get almost up to them before they fly... even on the road. Maybe they have poor vision?
