Zip and Go Bag

I managed to finish another sewing project this week! It's the Zip and Go Bag by Erin Erickson. You may have heard me mention her name a time or ten before. She's only my very favorite bag pattern writer! She does such a superb job of covering ALL the little details and making bag sewing easy, and she did no less with this pattern!

This bag is for Courtney. It was kind of a surprise, since she'd picked out the fabric but didn't know what I was going to make out of it. I love it! Such a perfect size for a kid, yet also works for anyone who doesn't like to carry around a lot of 'stuff'.

I forgot to take pics of the lining and back, but the lining is a solid gold canvas, and the back is the same fabric as the front, with no pockets.

I chose to make the strap adjustable according to the instructions, because I didn't know exactly how long it should be. This way it can "grow with her" also.

I took this next photo in rather poor light, but I wanted to show the strap length, in case I didn't manage to get a pic with it on Courtney.

However, I did remember to bring the camera and manage to get that pic of her when I gave her the bag. I do believe she was quite pleased with it. :)

I stuffed it with goodies - things that might help keep her occupied on a long road trip. She doesn't know what they are yet, though, because they're all individually wrapped... so I can't show you, either. :)

That's a great bag! I see from Erin's site that Courtney can use it later for her electronic devices too so it can definitely grow with her. And I also see that you matched the points above and below the zippers. Really! But where's the photo of the bag with Courtney?? All I see is a photo of the bag with some young lady who can't be Courtney she looks like such a grown up!! ;0)

Thank you! Yah... that little "grown up" lady can already use it for her digital camera and her (mom's) iPod! Where have the years gone?! Almost 7-1/2 years of "Tuesdays with Grandma" already!!

Matching up the points? Hmm... shall I let you think I'm that anally perfectionistic... er... GOOD? Or shall I confess? I'd better confess so others will know they can do it, too. It's a no-fail, because you start with one piece of fabric for the front and then simply cut it apart where the zippers go. Ta da! šŸ˜‰ Of course, Erin's precise measurements make sure everything comes together perfectly!

So sweet of you to think of things to entertain her on the long ride. Cute bag. I too did a double take on her pic, she really does look older in this photo. Maybe the lighting, maybe I just want to keep her little a bit longer.

Thanks, Grace. Yeah, let's find a way to keep her little! :)

Ah. So your matching secret is out! Nevertheless it's a gorgeous, well done bag.
