Delightful surprise

Remember the hibiscus cuttings I was starting back in June? They had nothing but stubby little beginnings of roots at that time, and I thought it might be as long as a couple years before they bloomed. Well, it's been less than 3 months, and look at them now!

Yep, 2 plants... a peachy-coral one and a red one.

I couldn't be more pleased! And now I won't feel nearly as bad throwing out the old plants when the time comes this fall.

Now that you've done it once, you may start a whole bunch of them and sell sell sell.
What was the process?
Did you just cut and put it in water?

Sell? Haha.... I don't think so. But if anybody else wants one, I might grab a few cuttings before I toss out the old plants... and give them away.

Yep, I just cut them and put 'em in water. Easy peasy. :)

Do your cats nibble on the leaves? Mine eat just about everything in sight, but I might have to try a hibiscus...

They didn't bother the leaves as much as the flowers. Willow thought it was great to bat the flowers around and/or take little bites, which ended up on the carpet and leaving little marks. Josie hasn't been tested yet... these plants are outside during the day and in the garage overnight.

BTW, for any of you pet lovers out there, CleanAway and OxyQuick work great on pet stains and odors, and other organic stains, too... like the hibiscus flower stains. They're not real fast, like maybe days or weeks, but they eventually take out the entire stain... even old stains that reappeared after I'd cleaned them with other cleaners. Works on food stains, too. I wouldn't be without them!
