She arrived!

Courtney successfully completed her first school bus ride to Grandma G's yesterday! I wasn't sure exactly what time she'd get here, or even which direction she'd be coming from, so I wandered around outside a bit, keeping an eye on the road in both directions. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait too long, since it was 94°(!) out and very windy! I zoomed the camera in, but didn't even know if I'd get a picture or not because it was so bright out I couldn't see if it was focused or not. I was in luck, and here she is!

I got quite a greeting! She hopped off the bus and came running with a big "Hi, Grandma!!" I bent down to give her a hug, and she hopped right into my arms and wrapped her legs around me. I guess she was glad to see me, huh? :)  I know I sure was glad to see her!

I filled my quiet Tuesday yesterday making something for her... er... for her baby. Here it is:

It (sort of) matches the nap mat cover set I made for Courtney, made from leftover fabric (plus a couple bits from other stuff).

It's a sleeping bag! Courtney got a play tent from her cousins, and she puts all of her dolls in there, so I thought a sleeping bag would be in order, especially one that matched Courtney's set. Here it is, unrolled. (And please, any of you quilters out there... don't look too closely at my binding... I know it's very messy! But I don't think dolls - or little girls - care. And I was in a huge hurry!)

Here's how it looks "stuffed" with one of my dolls:

It's similar to the one I made here, from a tutorial I found here. I added a couple of straps this time, to match her set, and also because she liked to roll up mine and put a rubber band around it. :)

I hope her baby slept well in it last night. I hope Courtney slept well, too, because I think this all-day-every-day kindergarten is going to take its toll by the end of the week. She gets up early and has long bus rides both ways (or daycare some days), making for a pretty tiring day. They only get a short "rest" on their nap mats in school. I was so glad that when my kids were little they only had half-days for kindergarten. They went in the mornings (others had afternoons), and they napped after lunch (whether they wanted to or not... heheh).

I love the sleeping bag! Perhaps it could also double as a pot holder. Ha.

Maybe for Pa's size hand! :)

Love the welcome you both received at the end of long day!

We still have half day kindergarten in our district. Two and a half hours to be exact! From 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Hardly seems long enough to teach what is supposed to be taught in the big K now-a-days!

Wow, that's a pretty short half-day, Becky! I'm sure ours were longer than that.

What a cute sleeping bag. Jaime is looking over my shoulder, and I'm sure she's going to want a couple AG sized. She's uncomfortable asking her dolls to share a bed.

Thanks, Kris! You should make some. They're super easy, and with your quilting skills, you could make 'em gorgeous! They'd be keepsakes along with the AG dolls. ;)

All-day Kindergarten?! Ugh! You are such a sweet grandma. What a cute little sleeping bag for her doll - and so great that it matches Courtney's set!
