REALLY hard water!

We went from 70° on Wednesday to 10° overnight on Thursday night. Yikes! That's a bit drastic, if you ask me. But, it's Minnesota... what do we expect? Land of infinite variety... and variety's the spice of life, right? (Some spices I could do without, actually!)

The birdbath, of course, froze solid. You can't really see it on this photo, but there are lots of little chips in the ice.

Here's why:

Not the greatest clip, but I didn't dare get any closer, lest I scare them away. (At least the windows are now clean!) After shooting that, I did try to sneak closer, but they saw me and were immediately gone.

But the poor things! After they left, I went out and put some hot water on top of the ice, but I don't know if they ever came back and got a drink before that froze, too.

Poor things is right but for you too? 0 degrees??? Too cold!!!! Stay indoors. :-)

Typo: 10 degrees. But it still doesn't feel any warmer.

I'm sure it won't be long and it will be 0 degrees, too. I do have to go out to feed my chilly cats, y'know. They're certainly looking fluffy in their new winter coats.

Tuesday night we drove to Lewiston, MN, with thick fog joining us the last hour.

We enjoyed Como Zoo on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, in 60-70 degree temperatures.

Thanksgiving evening we walked around the block in the magic of winter's first snow for my kids.

The next day they played in the snow, and attempted to go sledding. A bit too cold, (especially with no snow pants), and too steep (my gal likes her feet planted on the ground with the ability to control her direction).

Winter sure flew in fast!!! But, my kids thought it was magic. Norah said things like "Happy merry Christmas" and "God gave us a surprise of snow".

Glad your kids got to enjoy the "magic" of snow. Even more glad we didn't get any here. ;)

I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas.

We came home to a couple of inches of snow. Getting the kids out the door to school takes longer with boots, snowpants and mittens. I miss 60 degrees already!

Currently, it is 83 degrees in Texas. Almost too warm. Tomorrow we will have a high in the low 60's..much better. :)

Oh yuck, Kris!! You have my sympathy!

Yeah, Gwen... 83 is a bit much for almost winter!
